This home, built in 1994 is an outstanding value on Lake Mendota. There is 120 feet of frontage on a sandy beach facing west with it's beautiful sunsets and the ultimate in privacy with State of Wisconsin property (Mendota State Hospital) to the south and Department of Natural Resources to the north. Yet, it is in the City of Madison with it's great municipal services. It is the last property on Veith Avenue so the front of the house faces east and overlooks our circular driveway and a cul de sac and no homes. The closest private home is to the north beyond the DNR 30 foot right of way.<P>

This lakefront property has a natural boat slip that will accomodate a 40 foot boat and is surrounded by a permanent dock and lakeside deck with built in seating and a hanging swing seat with chimes which makes the area very attrative for lawn parties, etc. An elevated halogen spotlight above this area illuminates the entire boat area (power controlled from the house sunroom) plus outlets for power tools, etc. There are two six foot adjustable removal deck sections extending into the lake on the north side.<P>

The seawall and yard have been raised to a level above the highest lake levels experienced in the last ten years. The south end of the seawall has four steps to a swimming beach area, which is actually on State property, but is shallow and considered safe for young children. There is a beautiful lawn containing nice mature trees, which flows gradually to the lakefront after decending about ten steps from the back of the house.<P>

The house has 2,767 square feet under air conditioning. Not included in this area is a 28 x 23 attached garage with a small deck attached on the north side of the house. The entire basement, which has an outside window on the north wall, could be modified for multiple uses rather than just storage.<P>

The house contains an ADT Security System with display keypads on the first and second floors. There is battery backup with a digital communicator and power transformer. All doors to the outside have contacts and there are smoke and glass breakage detectors throughout the house and a water sensor in the basement. If any alarm goes off, ADT will contact our designated parties such as police, relatives, neighbors, etc. A stereo system with area switches, flows through both living floors with the controls in a built in great room cabinet.<P>

The south side of the first floor contains a tiled sunroom facing west to the lake with two skylights and a sliding door and windows onto the deck. To the south, windows to the woods are floodlighted so as to observe wildlife at night such as deer, raccoons, possums, etc. while sitting in a Coleman spa, which is included, easily accomodating up to eight people. The room, which is well ventilated, includes a cabinet with sink used for spa supplies, etc. plus a rotating wall mounted TV setup. The entire house is wired for cable TV. Adjacent to and behind the sunroom is a guest suite with a 12 x 12 carpeted bedroom, closet and full bath with linen closet for guest suite linens and towels for spa and suite areas.<P>

The foyer is tiled and is open to the second floor ceiling with an attractive fixture and a large closet on the north wall. Carpeting then flows down to a dramatic lake view, with spectacular windows and a vaulted ceiling with a three speed remote controlled reversible fan. A natural fireplace with a gas starter and a wet bar with minature refrigerator/ice maker and wall cabinets is on the south wall plus a door to the deck. On the north side of the room there are sliding doors to the deck and built in glass cabinets. Deck lighting can be accessed from all lakeview rooms on the first floor.<P>

The kitchen/dining room has oak hardwood flooring and white Merillat kitchen vinyl cabinets and white appliances plus an island Jenn-Air range and overlap counter with two bar stools, which are all included. There is also a built in desk and a one half bath at the entry into the attached garage. Across from the bath is a 10 x 8 laundry room with many cabinets (including a clothes chute from the upstairs master bathroom), closet, washer, dryer and tub.<P>

The dining area contains a 3/4 inch beveled glass 80" x 46" table and six upholstered chairs and cherry wood cabinets line the north wall. Tray ceilings and fixtures are positioned over the kitchen island and dining table. Sliding doors from the dining area lead into the screen porch described earlier.<P>

The staircase to the second floor was widened to accomodate a chairlift and leads up to a 16 x 17 study (which can easily be converted to another bedroom) and bridge over to the master bedroom suite. All second level rooms are carpeted with the same light color. There is an airing/sun porch with sliding doors to the lake from the master suite. The suite has floor to ceiling drapes on the south and west walls which can be drawn to completely privatize the area. The master bath is 8 x 20 and includes a skylight with an elevated tub to the lake, two sinks, mirrored vanity cabinets, a large shower and extended commode plus a built in closet for linen, medical and personal supplies. An attached his/her walk-in closet measuring 15 x 5 was designed by California Closet and is a real showcase.<P>

Other improvements include a 20 x 30 detached garage including a work bench, vise, shelving and space for garden and other tools, lawn tractor, lawn sweeper, other cars amd boat storage with a six foot door to the lakeside, (which is very handy).<P>

Planters are placed in the front and north side of the house and in front of the detached garage. A wildflower garden is on the south side of the recently sealcoated circular driveway and the infield is also filled with various perennials and attractive plants and has a power outlet (controlled from a front entrance switch) for holiday displays. A fireplace wood storage area to the south compliments a wood storage rack on the deck outside the exit next to the firepace. During the summer, we merely move the rack under the deck.<P>

Surplus building materials from the construction will be left in the garages or basement. There is an abundace of bird feeders (and we get many different varieties) and potted plants, decorative stones, etc. on the property.<P>
